Orson Scott Card is a famous science fiction writer who has been hired by DC Comics to do some writing for “Adventures of Superman.” Apparently gay activists are threatening to boycott DC Comics if they do not fire Card because he is morally opposed to homosex, and is an activist for traditional marriage. Thousands have signed a petition at allout.org for his firing.
So far, DC Comics is defending Card. They released a statement to Fox News saying, “As content creators we steadfastly support freedom of expression, however the personal views of individuals associated with DC Comics are just that – personal views – and not those of the company itself.” Let’s see if they stick to their guns.
Unfortunately, gay activists too often resort to trying to silence all those who disagree with their lifestyle through intimidation. They want tolerance extended to them. Perhaps they should try extending it to others. True acceptance of their lifestyle can only be achieved by the power of persuasion, not intimidation.

Hardly any different than the opposition against women’s right to vote, against slavery, against black/white intermarriage, against women in the church; the Catholic Church in particular. So what the righteous will prevail; secularism demands it. Face it, all you religious fanatics, religious insanity is being supplanted by something called civilization. Get with it or get plowed over and under; civilization will not tolerate the abyss of mankind that remains in its depths of infallibility.

Hope DC continues and that they don’t force Card to go.
Leo, where’s the tolerance? “Bigoted” is a good word to describe the attitude portrayed in your comment. If no, then why the veiled threat for all who resist this current push to gain public support for unnatural and harmful behavior (homosexual behavior)?
Furthermore, the ridiculousness of comparing opposition to homosexuality to slavery or interracial marriage is getting old. Remember: Skin color is not a choice. Sexual behavior is always a conscious choice on the part of the people involved (except in the case of rape). If practicing homosexuals maintain that they have no control over their sexual behavior, then anyone else can use the same excuse. Are you ready to handle those consequences?

To add to comment #2, race (as far as the biological components of it go) is 100% heritable. A Black man and a Black woman produce black children 100% of time. A gay man and a gay woman have no such guarantees of producing gay offspring. That’s the science. Critiquing homosexual sex-acts and gay marriage is the same as critiquing promiscuity, adultery, or polyamory. The outcry against Card is tantamount to the thought police wanting to squeeze out an alternative view from the public square. Note that Card (to the best of my knowledge) is not angling to promote his views via Superman. Pay attention to the fact that Card is one of the giants of sci-fi–a bestselling author and a GOOD one. How is it that he’s being reduced to the fact that he disagrees with same-sex marriage? HE’S MORMON! His religious convictions are in play here. So in order to appease the gay lobby you’ve got to skewer Card’s PERSONALLY HELD religious outlook on this issue? Hmmm. Sounds like the thought police to me.

Well said, LexCro. This situation does smell of fascism and 1984-esque Thought Police behavior. I also think that you point out an important thing to note: He’s not writing about it in the comic book. Of course, even if he did, I don’t think that’s bad. It would only be fair, since there have been several characters who have “come out”. Has anyone else read comic books lately? As a comic book reader and artist myself (not for any major company), I think the medium could use some positive influence.

Indeed Jason, their tactics of intimidation and intolerance is clear evidence that they are not just after “equal” rights as they claim, but their goal is to dominate public opinion of their orientation. They want to change reality and make their wrong orientation the norm, and any person expressing disagreement is considered worthy of any occupation sabotage they can cause.
It is interesting how blind the public seems to be to their intolerance. I know that their influence in media has made reporting on the issue mainly onesided in their favor, (a testament to their effective intimidation) but when stories like this comes out it should be clear that they are not only intolerant of opposing views but they want to harm those who hold them.

Leo, you said:
“Hardly any different than the opposition against women’s right to vote, against slavery, against black/white intermarriage, against women in the church; the Catholic Church in particular..”
Would you like to attempt to intelligently defend this comment?
In what way is homosexuality like being black or a woman, and just how is homosexual rights the same as the Black and female struggle for equality?

No Apologies Allowed” Weekly Apologetics Cartoon,
Good point, in fact I wrote an article about the homosexual targeting of the major comic book industry.
http://newschristianview.weebly.com/articles.html
Their stated excuse for including homosexuals in their comics was to stay true to what we see in society. But if that were true, why are there more homosexual characters than there are real Christian super heros? As I stated in my article:
“Who are they kidding? If staying up with the times and giving a realistic depiction of society was his real goal then Bestiality and pedophilia would have been featured along with any number of other deprived fetishes and orientations that exist in the world. And I am still waiting for them to include a true Christian super hero that live like a real Christian and talks about Jesus Christ and quotes the Bible, isn’t that a part of the real world? And since Christians out number homosexual, should there not be more Christian super heroes than homosexual super heroes?”

It is stuff like this and the Chik-Fil-A debacle that give me a hard time trying to sympathize with the pro-gay lobby. Too often they become so impassioned as to push their views beyond reason, resulting in unjust intolerance and discrimination against others. Unfortunately brute force intimidation often gets results, if not being intellectually persuasive or agreeable.
