Like spilled milk, it only takes a few seconds to spew utter nonsense from one’s mouth. Clean up, however, takes much more time.
In a sound bite culture like ours, most people don’t have the patience or interest to listen to the evidence and follow the logic of a rebuttal, and thus nonsense passes for common sense.

It would be useful if there was a link to explain the statement or perhaps a “this is a modern day proverb” statement to say that it is a random thought??

No link. I was trying to be concise. Perhaps I was too concise. Let me explain it a bit more. My point was that it doesn’t take long for someone to make a claim that is false, but it often takes a long time to show why it is false. And in our culture, where people think in slogans, most do not have the desire, time, or ability to listen to a rebuttal of the false claim. So, they go on thinking that the nonsense is common sense.
