Where I’ve been

September 28, 2014 12:43 am

It’s been just over two months since my last post. No, I’m not dead.  No, I haven’t given up blogging. I’ve just been working crazy hours at my job.  Sleep has been a luxury (to give you an idea of how crazy it’s been, last week I slept five hours between Sunday morning and Thursday night), so blogging has been out of the question.  I apologize for not at least posting something a couple months ago notifying everyone that blogging would be next to non-existent for a while.  When I have a few minutes I write down some thoughts for a blog post, but then it takes me 10 days to get back to it, and I only have five minutes to write.  So I will be posting something in a few days.  It’s only a few paragraphs, but it took me more than a month to write!

For those of you who have not already subscribed to my email feed, I would encourage you to do so (click “email notifications” on the top right).  Hopefully by December things will be back to normal, and I’ll resume blogging on a regular basis.  Until then, I’ll try to post when I can.  Thank you for your faithful readership!

  1. Even blogging must needs come in “seasons” in our hectic world. Glad to know you still have your fingers on the pulse of things and your eyes on the prize!

  9. Jason,

I really like the blog, as well as the other site which you post on “onenesspentecostal.com”. I personally am a Oneness Pentecostal, baptized in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost, and regularly speak with tongues. I am convinced of the intellectual superiority of Christianity over other faiths, but often find it frustrating when I am unable to defend my beliefs in a scholarly manner, as opposed to retreating to my den of experience. This is especially frustrating when trying to have worldview discussions with atheists. Its one thing to know something to be true, another to prove it be so. I am interested in apologetics, as I feel that it is a valuable tool to win souls, as well as strengthen one’s faith during periods of doubt and skepticism. I was wondering if you knew of any good resources to find compelling evidence for Christianity and against other worldviews, atheism namely?

I also recently came across the YouTube channel of an atheist female titled “Lee Lemon”. She makes videos arguing against theism, surprisingly, as an ex-Pentecostal Christian. I have watched a few videos of hers, and generally speaking she displays a very weak understanding of theism and often uses lame, tired arguments against Christianity. I was wondering if maybe you could watch some of her videos and possibly address some of her arguments in a blog post? I would certainly like to see your response.

  10. To be specific, Lee Lemon argues in “Athetits: Your New Homosexual Argument” that Jesus is a bi-sexual pantheist. She attempts to argue as much with the “brides of Christ” scripture. She says this includes men and women, and that shes mentions that believers are in the body of Christ, so Jesus must be a bi-sexual pantheist. I know that this is patently absurd. I figured you would be able to refute it better than me though, so if you ever end up deciding to check it out I would love to hear your response.

  11. Hi, Greg. Jason is an advocate of the Kalam Cosmological Argument (KCA) and is also a fan of William Lane Craig (its chief modern exponent). A very good book to read from that perspective and from a general apologetics framework is Reasonable Faith by Craig.

I advocate Thomism (am also a Oneness Pentecostal) and believe that it is superior to the KCA. Very good introductory books to read along that line are The Last Superstition and Aquinas–both by Edward Feser.

    All the best.
