Whenever the subject of abortion and politics comes up, inevitably well-meaning but uninformed people will say pro-life politicians (particularly Republicans) aren’t really doing anything to prevent abortion – that it’s just a position they pay lip-service to in order to court the vote of conservative Christians; therefore, it doesn’t really matter who you vote for. This simply isn’t true. Just ask the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute. In their latest press release they write:
Including the 57 abortion restrictions enacted in 2015, states have adopted 288 abortion restrictions just since the 2010 midterm elections swept abortion opponents into power in state capitals across the country. To put that number in context, states adopted nearly as many abortion restrictions during the last five years as during the entire previous 15 years. … The 288 new restrictions enacted since 2010 include a broad range of approaches, from banning some abortions to putting restrictions on the providers allowed to perform the procedures to limiting insurance coverage.
Clearly how one votes can make a difference for the unborn. While the current political situation does not allow for politicians to outlaw abortion entirely, they can and do pass legislation to reduce the number of abortions by providing more information to women and making it more difficult to obtain abortions. How you vote can and does translate into saving the lives of innocent children, and saving women a lifetime of guilt for having murdered their own babies.
UPDATE: The Guttmacher Institute released a report declaring that more than a quarter of all anti-abortion laws passed since Roe have been passed in the last five years (288 of 1,074).

Great to hear. Even where abortion is legal, there are certainly ways to restrict and reduce its practice, and it’s good to keep in mind that your votes do impact this. People need to be kept aware of how serious a matter it is, even if they don’t believe in the rights of unborn humans.

Modern Woman will not allow men to dictate how women should use their bodies and their reproductive system any more than modern man will allow clerics to tell them that masturbation and their personal sexuality is sin.
That has always been the problem with religion; it’s more than just a belief, religion wants to impose a universal morality which is why it has always attracted the kind of person who thinks other people’s private lives are their business.
And to vote for a politician to give politicians the power to dictate and legislate their values like clerics from the pulpit to tell people how to live, when to have sex, whom to love and how to live their lives, is not only against the American Constitution but against true freedom that requires us to liberate ourselves from the tyranny of religion as well as from the tyranny of the brutal earthly regimes of dictators and political hacks from the bully pulpit.
You cannot legislate righteousness; religion has been trying to do that for ten thousand centuries and they are now losing the war on every front and their influence on Humanity is a demise at hand because the New Heaven and the New Earth means accepting the power within oneself so that righteousness will be imbedded in your heart and in your mindset and not shoved down the throats of true seekers and that, not from a Cosmic Dictator as Religion tries to make all men believe.
The New Heaven and the New Earth: to the dismay of religion and the religious and the Church and clerics and all pseudo-believers is happening now, as I write: “After those days”…. your rule and guidance are over.
“(You) They shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, know the Lord: for they shall all know Me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them…………”
And there was no sign of a Church, for the Lord God was made known to be within man himself—the Sovereign-Strong—and the Lamb are the Temple, not a piece of real estate. The City doesn’t need sun or moon for light. Righteousness, its light, the disposition, attitude and mindset of Christ, its lamp! The nations will walk in its light and earth’s kings bring in their splendor. Its gates will never be shut by day, and there won’t be any night. They’ll bring the glory and honor of the nations into the City. Nothing dirty or defiled will get into the City, and no one who defiles or deceives. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will get in.
Are you there yet? I’m not kidding, are you there yet?
