Some good news! The Guttmacher Institute just released their abortion data from 2013-4. The number of abortions fell below one million for the first time in 2013 (958,700), and dropped again in 2014 (926,200). The last time they were this low was in 1975, just a couple of years after Roe.
The abortion rate has also continued to decline from 29 p/1000 women (aged 15-44) in 1980, to 14.6 p/1000 women in 2014. This is the lowest it has been since 1973.
While there are many factors that contribute to this decline (better contraception practices, pro-life legislation making it more difficult to obtain an abortion), one of them is most certainly the pro-life message of equal protection for all human beings. We have a lot more work to do to make abortion a matter for the history books, but I’ll rejoice over each step along the way.

Indeed the decline in abortion is good news. I anticipate the numbers to steadily decline and I want to point out one of the reasons to follow your observation “…..many factors that contribute to this decline…..” and that is:
As secularism takes hold in western civilization people begin to assume humanity’s ethics to help continue the trend. Morals and ethics were formerly and traditionally seen to be the purview of religion. And of course the purveyors of that false conclusion was religion itself claiming to be the mediator between Man and God.
Now I believe that one of the most important of reasons for the abortion decline is very important to note. People are beginning to assume their respective roles as part of a common humanity and the secular idea of a humanity from where all morals and ethics derive.
From a theosophical perspective:
This contradicts the religious point of view that all humans are born evil and must submit to the religious Laws that come from the religious philosophy that Laws, Morality and Human Ethos derive from an entity originally called “The Gods”. It is further worth noting the religious notion that laws, morals and ethos came from the modern “one god concept”, in reality, emanated from the pre and post mythology epoch and has merely been carried over to become religion’s dogmatic stance to aggrandize its position in world society. The irony consists in the fact that ‘divine judgment’, ‘damnation’ and that ‘all men are evil’, are themselves the inventions of religion; and then, religion declares itself the sole and indispensable liberator from that tyranny. A claim that makes a mockery of language as well as of truth and of human dignity while disregarding human it’s role.
And so as this abortion trend continues we can be thankful that secularism is playing an important role in this decline much more so than the religious threat to defund planned parenthood.
