Could the human population have originated from two people? Many say science has proven this to be impossible and are reinterpreting the Biblical narrative to fit the current scientific thinking. In this article, Fuz Rana evaluates the science behind the claims regarding original human population sizes. He notes that it is based on mathematical modeling rather than empirical data, and those mathematical models have failed verification in each case we have been able to test them. At the very least this ought to give Christians pause before reinterpreting the Bible to fit the latest scientific thinking. It would be foolish to abandon the historicity of a primordial pair of humans based on scientific reasoning that has inaccurately “predicted” the original population sizes of animals for which we know the original populations. If the mathematics are too idealized for real-life biology, then Christians should not feel the pressure to “revise” our theology.

Exactly. Mathematical models that extrapolate data eons back in time make way too many assumptions and are particularly prone to error. You could call this type of modeling a common “scientific fallacy”.

What isn’t taken into account in this article is that the genome was still in it’s infancy during the Adan/Eve period. So less likely to cause the genomic errors this article frets over. Another factor not taken into consideration is that the life span after the fall in Gen.3 was nore or less in the 900 range. Adam himself lived to be 930 years old! Methusula lived to be 969.They had “many sons and daughters” Genesis tells us.
So if the first pair lived that long one has more offspring and that line has more children as well as the next generation and so on. Longevity will multiply the race much faster!
As to life span then.We suppose man since he was genecally programmed to “live forever-” as it says in Gen.3 by God their bodies were not subject to all of the genetic errors spoken of in our article. The environment was pristine still as compared to todays food and pollution-the Garden Eden – it’s all organic non GMO! This would be favorable to a long life.
After the Flood it is now known the earth is about 14 degrees off. This affected the electromagnetic force as well as the poles -north and south-and could have affected the longevity of early man then.
But something most do not realize man during the Genesis period produced thet own all vital vitamin C from the glucolactone oxidise enzyme in the liver.Something -scientists say- caused the production of C which factors in long life ,well being, etc.,to cease and this enzyme- one of four to be quesient. Some animals and birds, etc.,still produce C like the mountain goat. It can create over several thousand units of C in about 15 minutes when under stress!
I think that the Flood and its’ affects caused this genetic error of not being able to create large amounts of C from our livers and has been passed down over time. After the Flood mans life span dropped to around 120 and later on average 70 to 800 plus.
So ,yes, it’s possble to popluater or in Noah’s case repopulate the human race!
The Flood was a mass interuption, creating a familyof 8 with extinction of humans ; but man has had thousands of years -without those long life spans- which compensates for that ‘900 year’ longevity factor!

The human genome has absolutely nothing to do with genesis…..The age of genesis individuals in all likelihood was calculated as years for moon cycle so that a life span of 930 years divided by monthly moon cycles would equal 930 divided by 12 moon cycles; in other words, about 77.5 actual years. And even that would be suspect since the life span of humans in 1917 was about 47 years or in moon cycles, about 564 years in biblical speake.
Forget the literal text and use your common sense…..

Just another sophistic, strawman rationalization. Rana got one thing right, he would indeed have been fired if he had insisted on using conservation biology statistical analysis in analytical method development. The analytical precision achievable, and in fact, required, for highly controlled laboratory analyses is orders of magnitude greater than that which can be expected for open ecological systems. Of the technical articles I looked at, the authors went to great pains to highlight the difficulties and assumptions required to estimate a minimum viable population for vertebrates. Thus, there are a range of values in the literature for animal MVP, from a few hundred to a few thousand. I was curious how Rana would go about validating the MVP methods. It seems to me that if you can’t use statistical methods, it would require exterminating a population down to a test value (one man and one woman?) and then waiting around for a few centuries to see if it survives. Any volunteers?

Gordon:
Please don’t quote Paul when telling me about religion
or the truth about humanity….quote Jesus. That’s the unfortunate way of Christianity, always quoting everyone except Jesus because they don’t know anything about Jesus so they have to quote Paul who thought he knew Jesus without ever meeting him! But he did not! Forget the hallucinogenic dream or fiction.
You said:
“By being hard-hearted and pushing away religion you are limiting yourself to only science………….”
You could have said the same thing about Jesus..do you think Jesus did not push away religion? Jesus is the one I follow not Paul……so quote Jesus. Unfortunately unless you welcome the paranormal you say nothing about Jesus whatsoever.
Want to know what Jesus said about religion check out Matthew 23, the entire chapter..the Woe to You Believers of religious insanity………don’t please tell me not to push away religion that’s like telling Jesus to follow Paul or to follow you because you think you know anything about Jesus, especially his own common sense understanding and humanity.
My trucking brother says:
All here say Trumps The Man, God’s Secret Weapon *=)) rolling on the floor laughing my head off at that one.
Now these days (23 May 2017) It’s:
Former CIA director John Brennan said on Tuesday he had noticed contacts between associates of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia during the 2016 election and grew concerned Moscow had sought to lure Americans down “a treasonous path.”
“They (the Russians) try to suborn individuals and they try to get individuals, including U.S. persons, to act on their behalf either wittingly or unwittingly,” he said, adding that “individuals going on a treasonous path often do not realize it until it is too late.”
Flynn, Manafort, Roger Stone, Jeff Sessions, Jared Kushner and the head treasonist-in-chief? Donald Trump…..
God’s secret weapon just shows the extent to which believers will collude with the devil and claim it is God’s plan!
